Brian Baughman #3043

Although Brian grew up in a Christian home in Indiana, he went his own way in high school. He started a family, launched a thriving construction business, built a nice home, and had everything he wanted. But he was miserable. When he heard the gospel again as an adult, he experienced the same conviction he had growing up. Finally, he surrendered and received Jesus as his Savior, and his life changed radically. 

He joined a jail ministry where 40% of the inmates were Hispanic. During one visit, he shared a Spanish gospel tract, and a Hispanic man accepted Christ. Brian felt called to full-time ministry, specifically to reach Hispanics in Indiana with the gospel. He and his wife Tammy spent a year in Argentina learning Spanish. When they returned to the US, they launched a Spanish ministry and planted a Spanish church. 

Brian realized that missionary status would allow him to plant and oversee multiple churches simultaneously rather than planting one church, relying on it for support, and then leaving to plant another. He is joining Encompass to lead Hispanic church planting in Indiana. He will write discipleship and church-planting materials for our Church Equipping Network (CEN) to equip Spanish churches to reproduce.
