Cambodian Campers Shine God’s Light into Their Community

Our ministry partners in Cambodia recently held a three-day youth camp that brought together 100 students across the region! This year's theme, "Called to Serve," truly came to life through the students' activities.
One major highlight of the camp was a service project where the attendees planted 50 trees at a rural elementary school just 25 kilometers outside of Battambang. For these students, it wasn’t just about planting trees—it was about letting God’s love shine through them in a practical way that their Buddhist neighbors could appreciate. Ministry partner Chayy says, “The school principal was very happy and thanked us for what we did to help his school.” Another project involved picking up trash in the city. As students worked side by side, they learned the importance of stewarding God’s creation while also showing their neighbors what it looks like when followers of Christ care for the places they call home. Of course, the camp also had times of digging into God’s Word, a special candlelight worship service, and even a ride on the famous bamboo train! The camp was a powerful display of the growing maturity of our local partners, as the entire event was fully organized by Cambodian leaders. Thierry Mirone, Encompass's Transformation Works Network Director, says, "We’re all very proud of our folks there—they’re doing a really great job!" And none of this would have happened without you. Because of your generosity, these young believers were able to live out their faith and share Jesus’s love in a place where it is rarely seen.
