Growing up as a missionary kid in Papua New Guinea left an impact on Micah. Even though he was only seven when his family moved back to the States, he now has a desire to serve God with his life. “I just want to go wherever God calls me,” he says. Now that he’s a student at Grace College, he’s preparing to go on a short-term mission trip to France with Encompass World Partners.
Micah is currently finishing his freshman year of college, where he is studying French, Spanish, and German. But for him, learning languages isn’t just about conjugating verbs—it’s about connecting with people. “If I learn people’s languages, I don’t have to just tell them the gospel in English—I can share it in their heart language, which is the best way for someone to receive it.”
His passion for languages runs deep, but his love for people runs even deeper. “When I see how much people need Jesus, it breaks my heart,” he shares. “Especially when I think about people who are still waiting for the Messiah when He’s already come. I just want them to see the gospel.”
That’s why Micah will be spending four weeks of his summer in Chambéry, a town in southeastern France. There, he and his teammates will immerse themselves in the language, take classes at a local university, and step into ministry opportunities alongside French Jesus-followers.
He’s super excited for this upcoming missions experience, while also trusting God with the outcome. “I’ve never been to a secular university before, and navigating everything on my own will be a new challenge,” he admits. “But I’m learning to depend on Jesus in everything, and I know He’ll be with me.”
Micah is doing his part by exploring God’s calling on his life, but God didn’t design us to work alone. Micah needs the body of Christ to come alongside him in prayer and financial partnership. Could God be calling you to partner with this young man as he explores God’s calling on his life?
As Micah prepares for this trip, please ask God to give him boldness, peace, and opportunities to share Jesus. Also consider giving financially to help cover the costs of his trip, ensuring that he can focus on the mission God has placed before him.
And this is just the beginning! Whether it’s in France, another part of Europe, or somewhere completely unexpected, Micah is ready to follow God’s lead.
