Some women came with very young babies, and/or preschool-aged children. It was an intense week that was very rewarding. Karina reports they saw and felt the Lord working every day.
Pastors Bernardin and Luis taught and interpreted each day. From Tuesday to Saturday Karina and the pastors told Bible stories (“storying”), giving basic instructions to the women about how to prepare a Bible story themselves, and how to tell it to others. There were also times of meditating on the Bible, prayer and praise, and a practical evaluation at the end. Three women from Moundou worked tirelessly in the kitchen to prepare and serve meals for the group.
Karina says what stood out and impacted her most were:
- The women’s interest and participation in the classes
- The atmosphere of joy and peace they had all week, both inside and outside of class
- The wisdom that God gave each woman to work through the very long days (12 hours or more) away from home
- God’s care for each woman, and for their families back home in the villages
“I’m also very thankful to the Lord for the strength He gave me,” Karina says. “The day before classes began I had to have a medical checkup, and although they didn’t find malaria this time, I felt tired and had neck and headaches. At one time I thought I wouldn’t be able to attend the class. But God in His faithfulness and power gave me strength each day, and good rest each night. It was an opportunity, again, to prove that His grace is sufficient and is perfected in our weakness.” Please pray that the women who participated in this class would take what they learned back to their villages and use it to help share God’s Word with others. Join us in giving thanks for Karina’s health and stamina, and for the work of the pastors and others in making the class possible.
